Last updated: February 27, 2026
Key Point: StreamBlur processes everything locally on your device. Your screen content is never uploaded, recorded, or sent to our servers.
1. Overview
StreamBlur ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
StreamBlur is an on-screen privacy tool that detects and masks sensitive information (such as API keys, passwords, emails, and tokens) before they appear on your stream or screen recording.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Screen Content (Local Processing Only)
We do NOT collect, upload, store, or transmit your screen content. All screen analysis happens locally on your device using pattern matching. No screenshots, video frames, or screen data ever leave your computer.
2.2 Account Information (Optional)
If you choose to sign in with Google for Pro features, we collect:
- Email address (for license verification)
- License status (free or Pro)
We do not access your Google contacts, files, or any other Google account data.
2.3 Usage Analytics (Minimal)
We may collect anonymized, non-personal usage data such as:
- Extension version
- Feature usage counts (e.g., how many times blur is triggered)
- Crash reports
This data contains no personal information and cannot identify you or your screen content.
2.4 Payment Information
Pro purchases are processed through third-party payment processors (Stripe). We receive confirmation of payment and your email for license activation, but we never see or store your credit card numbers or financial details.
3. How We Use Your Information

5. Data Storage and Security
Your preferences and settings are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. If you sign in, your email and license status are stored securely in Firebase.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect any data we do collect.
